This section aims to help tenants, tenants organisations, TAROE board members and others, have an understanding of TAROE, who and what it is and what TAROE believes in.

The National Tenants and Residents Federation was formed in 1987.

In 1996, discussions took place between this federation and The National Tenants Organisation, to discuss the urgent need for a unified National Tenants Movement.

It soon became apparent that these two organisations needed to combine, so in September 1997 at Sheffield Town Hall, the Tenants and Residents Organisations of England (TAROE) was born.
