HouseMark publish new toolkit to help you write your annual report
With the TSA's deadline of 1 October looming fast, a new toolkit has been published by HouseMark to help the housing sector develop and deliver their annual report to tenants.
The "annual report to tenants" is a key component of the TSA's regulatory framework. Although the social housing sector is in a period of change, the TSA and its regulatory framework are still in place and the TSA expects providers to issue annual reports to their tenants by the autumn deadline.
HouseMark worked with the National Housing Federation, Local Government Association, National Federation of ALMOS, Tenant Participation Advisory Service and the three national tenant organisations to produce a comprehensive and practical toolkit. The document sets out in clear and simple terms how organisations can build on existing good practice to think through their approach to the annual report so that the end result is ‘fit for purpose’.
Emphasis is placed on involving tenants early in the process along with the importance of adopting a ‘warts and all’ approach towards reporting cost and performance to ensure tenants receive honest, informative and accurate information.
Author Steve Smedley, Director of Research & Development at HouseMark says, “We appreciate that many organisations will have already started work on the annual report, however they will still find the toolkit helpful, particularly as it has benefited from the input of the tenant movement and landlord trade bodies.”
The report is complemented by HouseMark’s team of experts who are on hand to offer advice and support on writing the annual report either through group workshops or on an individual organisation basis.
